Is public liability insurance required to join?
No. Insurance is optional at GigWest platform level and does not block initial profile publication.
Can a venue require it?
Yes. Venues and event opportunities remain responsible for setting and checking their own insurance requirements.
What do the public insurance indicators mean?
“Public Liability Insurance current” means the performer entered an expiry date that has not passed. “Certificate supplied” is separate: it means the performer uploaded a current private PDF. Neither statement means GigWest authenticated the policy, and venues should check any insurance requirement appropriate to their event.
Does GigWest store insurance certificate files?
Yes. A performer can upload one current Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency as a PDF up to 10 MB. GigWest checks the PDF signature, parses its structure, rejects corrupt, encrypted and active-content PDFs, stores it privately and checks authorisation on every download. This restricted validation is not antivirus scanning and GigWest does not guarantee that the policy is genuine.
The performer can replace or delete the current certificate. Authorised venue organisation staff can access it only when their organisation has a roster or enquiry relationship with the performer. The PDF, filename, storage key, policy number and private administration details are never public. Generic message, invoice and booking-document attachments remain unsupported.
